No, I stand corrected. It was his first spell and we bought him from St Mirren.

Apologies.

Haha, after he got sent off he went into the opposition dressing room and took a shit in Lawrenson's kitbag

Apparently he kicked Mark Lawrenson in the head, so kudos for that

Living on the volcano

Its a brilliant book. 12 chapters all different stories of managers in the lower leagues going into jobs where they know they will probably be sacked in the next 2-3 years.

This is management at the real sharp end.
Get it! Great read

Yeah, he sounded something else. And it’s a shame there is no footage of that goal he scored, which was meant to have been one of the best ever.

Apparently his kitbag consisted of a pack of twenty fags and a bottle of spirits!

Steak...Diana Ross Diary of a Football Nobody by David McVay

Excellent book about the unglamorous life of the lower league footballer. Great title which will resonate its the more mature amongst us!

Re: Best football autobiographies and biographies
simon, I would have loved to have seen Robin Friday play, a George Best or Payet of the lower divisions

Robin Friday’s book is brilliant.

I leant it to someone off here, possibly CB, but it’s on my bookshelf, if anyone wants a read I’ll glady post it off.

Not a great fan of footballers autobiographies but did enjoy the two Garry Nelson "Left Foot" books.

If we were buying him from Celtic then it would have been for the less-successful second spell and he was, by then, already a club legend.

True- it's not! We will probably have to agree to disagree on this.

I just can't get over that he went out to deliberately seriously injure a fellow pro as an act of revenge.

Haaland shouldn't have done what he did, and football is littered with dirty cunts, but no-one went out to deliberately injure Keane.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway!

Without looking, I would guess Michael Caine's book is titled "My Name is Michael Caine"

Am I close?

Fair enough. It's not a popularity contest.

We are talking about books. I like it when someone is 'honest' in auto-biography and Keane's is very honest.

And as for Haaland. He got what he fucking deserved. Keane snapped his CL and Haaland stood over him baiting him and abusing him.

Keane waited for years to get his revenge and he got it. If Haaland had done that to me I'd have done exactly the same. And if you watch it again you will not none of the Man City players go mad or in fact confront Keane because they know he deserved it too.

Haaland was a fucking dirty cunt and a shit footballer anyway.

Is the Michael Caine one the one where he shares his recipe for roast potatoes at the end?
